The Estelline Education Association (EEA) is proud to announce the first recipients of its newly established First-Year Teacher Grant, an initiative designed to support alumni of Estelline High School as they embark on their teaching careers. The grant, valued at $250, is awarded to Estelline graduates who secure their first teaching positions, offering a financial boost as they begin this important chapter in their professional lives. This year’s recipients are Marcis Hausman, a 6th-grade teacher at the Hendricks School District in Hendricks, Minnesota, and Harrison Wegner, a High School Science teacher at the Sioux Valley School District in Volga, SD. This initiative was conceived over the past year by members of the EEA, who saw an opportunity to give back to the community by supporting those who have chosen to pursue a career in education. The grant reflects the EEA’s commitment to encouraging the growth of new educators and ensuring that Estelline continues to be a place where teachers are valued and supported. The first-year teacher grant was made possible with the help of several Estelline alumni who have returned to teach in the community. CeCe Louwagie, Lisa Hausman, Brandon Krein, Christy VanHeerde, Hilary Suther, and Amanda Saathoff, all of whom are proud Estelline graduates, played a key role in bringing this initiative to fruition. Their dedication to their profession and their alma mater has been instrumental in establishing this ongoing support system for new teachers. The EEA is committed to making this grant an ongoing opportunity for Estelline graduates who choose to enter the teaching profession. If you have any questions about the First-Year Teacher Grant or how to support the initiative, please get in touch with any EEA member.
