On November 21st, 2022, at 7pm, we will be hosting a presentation for parents related to Internet safety at the Estelline School gym. South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Special Assistant Attorney General Toby Russell and DCI Supervisory Special Agent Darin Sinner will be the presenting on the topic. Biography:
Toby has been a law enforcement officer in South Dakota for the past 24 years and is currently a Special Assistant Attorney General with South Dakota DCI. Toby is the supervisor of the DCI Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and Digital Evidence Unit and he is the Commander of the statewide South Dakota ICAC Task Force. Toby has been a member of the South Dakota ICAC Task Force since 2007 and has specialized in investigations involving Internet crimes against children and other investigations that involve the internet and digital evidence. Toby has spent most of his law enforcement career conducting investigations involving technology facilitated incidents of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of minors.
The presentation will cover various aspects of Internet safety including current statistics and trends both statewide and nationally. Also, there will be significant discussion about specific mobile applications and websites that parents should be aware of, and the risks associated with each platform or site. In addition, there will be discission on parental monitoring applications and other preventative methods for parents.
